Solar and Wind Electricity

Thanks to advances in solar and wind electricity, it has never been easier to go green and break free from the grid. This website will show you step-by-step how to build a solar panel and how to build a windmill. Most of the materials to build these things cost less than $200 and require very basic building skills.

It has never been more important to break free from the grid and not be dependent on an outside electricity supply. The price of electricity per kilowatt hour continues to rise dramatically in many areas across the world. This is simply because of the increasing world population, and the decline of natural resources. However if you take steps to implement solar and wind electricity, it not only saves the environment, but can also save you thousands of dollars a year.

Solar Power

While many people view buying and installing solar panels as a very expensive proposition, it does not have to be. In fact as you'll read on this website making your own solar panel can be done for less than $150. This represents a savings of thousands of dollars if you have a professional install solar panels for you.

Building a solar panel can be done easily in an afternoon. And if you want to really take a chunk out of your electricity bill, build several solar panels together. While placing them on your roof would be ideal, if you live out in the country, you can just place them on top of a shed or in your yard. The most important thing to remember is to place them at a 15° angle for maximum efficiency.

While almost everyone could build a solar panel, sometimes tying it into your household electrical panel can be complicated. While it can be done with some basic instructions, it might be best to hire professional for this task.

Wind Power

Wind electricity, which can be generated from wind turbines or windmills can be produced in all regions across the world. While it is true that some regions experience more wind than other places, all you really need is an average wind speed of around 10 mph to generate decent power.

The lighter the material is that you build your wind turbine with, obviously the less wind speed you need to turn the turbine. In fact you can probably build a windmill today with scratch building materials laying around your property. If you have some basic building skills you should check out the Earth4Energy guide. This guide is one of the most comprehensive ones on the market today that shows you how to build windmills and solar panels.

How to Break Free from the Grid

Many people wonder how they can use solar and wind electricity to break free from the grid. And believe it or not it can be done and many people have already done it. The easiest way to do this is to simply scale up.

What I mean by this is, instead of believing that you're going to break free from the grid with one small solar panel, you simply have to build several solar panels and combine them in a series. The same thing goes with windmills or wind turbines. All you have to do is build several of these and wire them together.

The best way to scale up is to build several solar panels and several small windmills. Then simply tie them all together so they charge up the same battery bank. For those of you who are concerned about not getting enough sunlight or wind to generate power, you may want to  read my Magniwork review.
